The laboratory is divided up into three main research areas:

  1. Cancer and haematological malignancies
  2. National Reference Laboratory for Haemoglobinopathies
  3. Other non-malignant haematological conditions such as haemostatsis and haemochromatosis.

We use new technologies such as next generation sequencing to characterise clinical samples from patients with malignancies and non-malignant haematological disorders. For example we have on-going whole genome sequencing studies in chronic leukaemia and haemochromatosis and have developed diagnostic approaches on free circulating DNA.
